About this place
Down a flight of stairs into the basement of a building by Komagome Station, Menya Goto greets diners with the aroma of noodles and a calm atmosphere. The signature special mori soba is served as dipping noodles: thick, house-made noodles with a firm bite and pronounced wheat flavour are paired with a dipping broth layered with savoury notes from meat and seafood. Even the regular portion is generous. The noodles go down easily, while the broth's gentle depth of flavour builds with each mouthful.
For a warm bowl of noodles, there is also ramen, or atsūmori, in which the noodles are served warm. The standard bowl comes with two slices of chashu, bamboo shoots and nori seaweed—a straightforward combination with plenty of character. For an even heartier meal, options include mori wontons or wonton ramen, both with generously filled wontons, as well as a meat-lover's choice topped with five slices of chashu.
The dining room has table seating as well as a mainly counter-style layout. Its relaxed atmosphere makes it a comfortable place to settle in for a bowl on your own. Another way to spend an evening is to have beer with snacks such as chashu and bamboo shoots or green onion wontons, then finish with noodles. Payment is cash-only at a ticket machine, so bringing 1,000-yen notes or coins before your visit can make things smoother.
